[WEEKEND READS] where I try to deal with my first reading slump of the year

#currentlyreading
Hello,

I missed #weekendreads last week 'cause I was too busy. Also, I'm in a reading slump #sadlife. I NEED to get out of it soon.

I know, I know. You're probably thinking, "oh look, Czai made a new book blog but she's still too inactive. WTH?" But I regret nothing, really. Also, I'm doing my very best to get around posting and blog hopping 'cause I'm an invisible mushroom. Patience, I guess. Patience.

On other things, I recently went back to watching anime so maybe I can feature that here just for the fun (also, if you're an anime fan, just tell me what you're watching and maybe we can talk some more!). When I finished Ace of Diamond a couple of weeks back, I just got sooooo addicted to it that I ended up reading Ace of Diamond Act II. GAH! I'm strongly rooting for Sawamura to become the Ace by Summer Tournament and KOSHIEN! Also, the first years!!

Also, I've been considering anime blogging again. Strongly, if I must say. I mean sure, I'm not the most consistent blogger out there but I really just want to share my thoughts. When I dropped by an old aniblogger friend, Marina from Anime B&B, I was super glad that she remembered me. I've been out from aniblogging for around 2 or 3 years now. sooooo yeah.

NOW for my #weekendreads

recent reads

Resthaven | Erik Therme
This is the most recent book I read and I finished it like a week ago. I'm that bad into this slump. Even ebooks aren't helping me anymore. ANYWAY, this is my second Erik Therme book. I read and reviewed Mortom and thought that the mystery was well thought of. Resthaven, on the other hand, was a book that frustrated me. I wanted to love it but the characters felt too whiney and the mystery had an interesting turn but the in-between just felt a bit weak for me. Review will be up soon!! (hopefully).

Damaged Goods (Blank Slate #2) | Jennifer Bardsley
Damaged Goods is good sequel for Genesis Girl. It followed up the story well. It shows that not everything is not immediately resolved and I like how Bianca and Seth's relationship is put to test. The ending was also pretty good and it made me look forward for the sequel. -- from my review of Damaged Goods.

Blood Lines (D.I. Kim Stone #5) | Angela Marsons
Not exactly my fave Kim Stone novel but i still immensely liked it. It started slow for me. It was intriguing but not exactly that thrilling. At least not until around 50% of the novel. There were two entirely different things being tackled here. There's the murder case which somehow reminded me of Silent Scream in terms of the killer's plans; and there's Alex Thorne which, of course, was a very interesting addition to the story. There's more of Kim's relationship with her mother and more details on what went on between them. at first, I thought that Alex's side of the story would be connected to the main case but it turns out that I was wrong. they were not related and that's also fine because we get to see more of Kim :) Review will be up soon!! (hopefully).

current reads

The Nightingale | Kristin Hannah
I picked this book up because it's a historical fiction novel set in WWII. I LOVE historical fictions and it's one of my go-to genres when I'm in a slump. I'm currently devouring this book and admittedly, even though I'm busy, I always find time to pick this up just because it's that kind of read for me -- something you just can't hold off.

The Rose Society (The Young Elites #2) | Marie Lu
I kind of put this one down for a while. It's not because I didn't like it. I think that it's actually pretty good but I'm just not in the mood for it right now especially with this horrible slump. Hopefully I can get back to this one once I finish The Nightingale.

next reads

The Swap (Nicole Graves Mysteries #1) | Nancy Boyarsky
I got this from Light Messages Publishing for review. It's a mystery series so I'm really up for it. Also, it comes out on February.

The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard #1) | Scott Lynch
Just because I've been seeing this a lot lately. Also, I'm in the mood for more adult fiction.

anime marathon

Shirobako | P.A. Works
What I love about Shirobako is how it really shows the anime industry -- the difficulties of it, how stressful it actually is, and the importance of each position. Aside from this, the recent episodes I've seen were really inspirational and they really hit me hard. Miyamori's struggle of uncertainty relates to me well. This half-way mark of the series is also perfect -- it ended Exodus and gave Miyamori her new role in the company (Production Manager). It also opened her dilemma as well as the new steps and things her friends are taking and receiving.

    1. *waves back* no worries, Joy. I really can't believe I got stuck on a reading slump a month after recovering from it. Just how unfortunate is that? Thanks for stopping by :)
