JULY WRAPUP (aka the month of starting my new job)

only physical book i read last month. smh.
Hi,

I never posted anything on July. Crazy, I know. I've been preoccupied with work and because I have an hour and a half commute to and from work. I feel exhausted whenever I get back home thus I never get into a pretty good reviewing mood or get much reading done or actually sit down and open my laptop. What happened to my life even? Also, I just got home from a trip for work. It hasn't even been a month of working for me. I have mixed feelings about it tbh. Travel is fun, I know. But personal stuff got me. So it's not them, it's me ๐Ÿ˜ž

BUT YEAH, onto this wrap up!

Because I recently started my job, I've been so exhausted with my commute as I mentioned. I also can't read much at work, unlike before. So I only finished these two books for July. But I also hauled 5 books? But we're cool since I just borrowed them from my best friend ๐Ÿ˜… successful book buying month again for me. For August, I'll only be buying 1 or 2 books for my birthday. I have them reserved at my fave local bookstore. The people there are the best! ๐Ÿ˜Š

books read

The Body Reader (Detective Jude Fontaine #1) by Anne Frasier | All Our Wrong Todays by Elan Mastai

I saw The Body Reader last year or so, I think, on goodreads. I got curious so I bought it with my Amazon GCs then for kindle. I read it early July and it was okay. Nothing special in it, tbh. It felt and read like the usual crime fiction featuring a detective with a baggage. Aren't we all used to that? (or was it just me). I'll try to have a review up at some point. All Our Wrong Todays was a book I've been hoping to read since it came out last year. I LOVE the idea of this book!! It's about Tom Barren who came from a 2016 that's too advance for us (aka 2016 with flying cars and food pills, wth even?) but because of some stupid decisions which may include a time machine, he got stuck on our version of 2016.

books hauled

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn | The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware | Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz | The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larson | Scythe (Arc of a Scythe #1)

FYI I didn't bought any of these. These are all books I borrowed from my best friend. We're both so into mystery thrillers so I basically borrow so much from him ๐Ÿ˜… Scythe though was given to me. He bought it for me. I was going to buy it but he bought it for me sooo.. yeah. I've already read this and I really just want a hardcover edition ๐Ÿ’–

August to-be-read
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontรซ | Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontรซ | How to Find Love in a Bookshop by Veronica Henry | The Cure for Dreaming by Cat Winters | Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew J. Sullivan

I'm low key joining #CLASSICSATHON hosted by Lucy Powrie @ lucythereader which runs all throughout the month of August. Also, I'm hoping to join #BreakyourTBRapart Readathon which will run from August 10th to the 16th. And there are challenges!! I need to get out of this reading slump!!

My real goal though is to get myself out of this slump caused by my stress in work/commute ๐Ÿ˜‰

HOW ABOUT YOU GUYS,
How was your July? Anything you want to share? New hobby, projects, travel, books, school life?
How was your month in reading? Anything you added to your faves? Anything you can recommend to me?

  2. Long commutes are so draining, so I feel you on being all tired when you get home from work. I use to travel 2 hours for uni! D:

Jane Eyre is one of my fave classics, really hope you love it! :D I didn't love Wuthering Heights, on the other hand, but it was an interesting read for sure...

    1. ohmy, 2hrs is crazy. I experience it whenever there's heavy and traffic. I wanted to get some reading done in my commute but most of the times I'm just too tired to do so :(

Wuthering Heights will actually be a reread for me this time, hopefully. I actually ended up liking it but I do understand why it didn't work out for you. The story itself isn't very uplifting to be honest. Thanks Renu, I've been reading good things about Jane Eyre :)
