BOOKS FROM THE BACKLOG #3

Hi,

Books from the Backlog is a weekly feature hosted by Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books. I'm doing double features every other week: one physical book and one ebook.

[WEEKEND READS] where my slump came back after that amazing 12 books streak

Hi,

It's been a month since this Corona Virus took over normal life and it makes me sad. I miss fun trips to the grocery. I miss looking around the bookstore. I miss walking outside with no crazy social distancing restrictions. But yeah, this sucks.

I recently finished listening to the audiobook of Love & Luck and I LOVED IT! Review to come for sure. And while we're at it, have you checked out my review of the first book Love & Gelato? It's such a cute romance! I'll be getting the 3rd book for sure!

I've been watching so much recently. Well not as much as most people but quite a lot for me since I don't sit down and watch a lot. I'm watching Ace of Diamond: Act II and it's somehow filling up my baseball hunger. I'm also slowly going through The Haunting of Hillhouse in Netflix. I'll probably finish it over the weekend. I don't ever watch it in the evening because that atmosphere is just scary af. SO GOOD!

A summer in Italy turns into a road trip across Tuscany in this sweeping debut novel filled with romance, mystery, and adventure.
Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn’t in the mood for Italy’s famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She’s only there because it was her mother’s dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn’t around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is get back home.
But then Lina is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina’s uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires Lina, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It’s a secret that will change everything Lina knew about her mother, her father—and even herself.
People come to Italy for love and gelato, someone tells her, but sometimes they discover much more.
Kirkus Reviews called Love & Gelato “a sure bet for fans of romance fiction,” while VOYA said readers “will find it difficult to put this book down.” Readers are about to discover a new place, a new romance, and a new talent.
fun read but not enough Gelato

I read this because Scribd Free Reads had me picking up books I'm not entirely sure I'll love. But who says no to free YA chick-lit romance? I've been eyeing this one since it came out but I've never been one to read YA contemporaries because I think I already outgrew them. But I enjoyed it this one 😊

MARCH WRAPUP (aka the month of social distancing)

Hi,

It seems that 2020 just gets wilder and wilder as each month come.

I wouldn't say I'm bored at home because I've been reading A LOT as you can see in this wrap up but WHOA I miss the outside world! I miss sports! I miss hockey. I miss baseball. I miss going to the mall. I miss going to the bookstore. I miss walking outside. I miss buying snacks.

I just miss the normal everyday life I always complain about!
