10 Books on my TBR Shelf the Longest (aka books I should be reading this month)

Hi,

It's been a while. And I was a bit hesitant to do this post basically because: (1) it's almost the end of the month, and (2) I haven't really finished any of these. And I think 1984 got me into some kind of slump so I'm picking up books from previous TBRs that I think will help me get my motivation back in reading.

In another note, I decided to still post this TBR because I plan to do a wild 100-pages-a-day reading for me just for the hecc of it. My slow ass reading self will probably be exhausted but idk. We'll see I guess. I haven't finished any of these so all of these are still in the mix for the next week and a half of my reading (?). And I still want to get through my usual four to five books a month. BUT I am quite close to finishing my current read and somewhat halfway through the ebook I'm reading.

ICYMI, this is the same tbr prompt I have this month last year and I generally have half of these books in last year's TBR. lmao. I only read five books from last year's but in my defense, one of those books is the last book in a series which I had to reread the first three books before finally getting to it.

* I'll try to have my June Wrap Up and 2nd Quarter Reading Stats soon (i think). I'm not sure about reviews/book thoughts but somehow I'm still in no mood to write them.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn | Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge | Mr. Mercedes (Bill Hodges Trilogy #1) by Stephen King | 1984 by George Orwell | Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J Maas

all of these were on last year's tbr so not talking about them again.

My reread of the first two books went out fine and I'm excited to continue this series. The problem now though is I only have until book four. I'm  not sure if I'll be able to get books five to seven this year. lmao.
On Such A Full Sea by Chang-Rae Lee
Gifted to me. I'm not interested in it but I don't know. Guess I'll just try it and if it doesn't work out, unhaul it maybe.
The Rose Society (the Young Elites #2) by Marie Lu
I started this years ago and I checked my bookmark and I'm halfway through it BUT I'm restarting this and also maybe rereading the first book again.
The Monogram Murders by Sophie Hannah
Bought this purely because of the massive Agatha Christie name and I don't know much back then. I thought this was a legit Agatha Christie book. UGH! They shouldn't try and revive series and use the name of their original authors in massive letters.

HOW ABOUT YOU GUYS,
Do you read books immediately after buying them? What are the books that you've left unread for so long? Have you read any of these? Which ones should I read first?

let's connect!

  1. Ohhh which reminds me, I need to read Mr. Mercedes! Have you read The Outsider?

    Anyway, good luck with these!

  2. Thrillers aren't even my thing, but I liked Gone Girl. I am a ToG fan, and I was happy with the Young Elites series. I read 1984 in high school (in the 80s lol) and I liked it as well. Hope you find some gems.

  3. Good luck with the reading! Gone Girl was kind of a trip but I didn't love it as much as some did, and wow that Agatha Christie one- that would have thrown me too!

  4. I liked Cruel Beauty for the most part. I really liked Gone Girl, though it's not my favorite by the author (that would be Dark Places). Mr. Mercedes is one that I have on my own wish list!
