10 MIBF Hauls I Kept on my TBR Shelf the Longest

This is the second year that the Manila International Book Fair isn't happening becaue of COVID-19! hecc you, covid!!!

I just miss the good old times (aka 2019-ish times) where I get to go to the book fair and buy all the books I want for 20% less. The fun of seeing a lot of books in a single place is so fun and going there with friends makes it even better. I usually go two times a year, a day for myself and a day with a friend. In 2018, I went with my best friend and we just went out check out each other's stacks. In all the other years, I went with my college friend and it was like our hang out day away from out busy work schedule.

But yeah, it's that couple of days of the year where I buys lots of books which I don't normally do. lmao. And yeah, I don't even buy physical books right now. If this COVID stays for another 2yrs, I'll probably clear out my TBR shelf. lmao.

10 Books I'm Too Scared To Read But Should Really Get to RIGHT NOW

It's only been two-ish weeks since I posted my TBR (lmao) and I read one book from that stack and got through two more books (which I'll be talking about on my wrap up soon). SO here we are with another monthly TBR which I honestly picked at random and feels and mood (?). idk.

Basically these are just books I thought I've been holding off for whatever reasons. SO I guess I've been too scared to pick them up and this is the time I push myself to finally get around some of these (hopefully half of these). ALSO, I'm joining #reveresereadathon tomorrow-ish depending on where you live or when you see this. It's a readathon hosted by the Dewey's Readathon team. I'll post a recap of that on Sunday I guess (which I hope is a success for me unlike my personal 24hr readathons. lmao).

10 Books on my TBR Shelf the Longest (aka books I should be reading this month)

It's been a while. And I was a bit hesitant to do this post basically because: (1) it's almost the end of the month, and (2) I haven't really finished any of these. And I think 1984 got me into some kind of slump so I'm picking up books from previous TBRs that I think will help me get my motivation back in reading.

In another note, I decided to still post this TBR because I plan to do a wild 100-pages-a-day reading for me just for the hecc of it. My slow ass reading self will probably be exhausted but idk. We'll see I guess. I haven't finished any of these so all of these are still in the mix for the next week and a half of my reading (?). And I still want to get through my usual four to five books a month. BUT I am quite close to finishing my current read and somewhat halfway through the ebook I'm reading.

ICYMI, this is the same tbr prompt I have this month last year and I generally have half of these books in last year's TBR. lmao. I only read five books from last year's but in my defense, one of those books is the last book in a series which I had to reread the first three books before finally getting to it.

* I'll try to have my June Wrap Up and 2nd Quarter Reading Stats soon (i think). I'm not sure about reviews/book thoughts but somehow I'm still in no mood to write them.

10 Books From My TBR Jar that I'll Try to Get to Soon!!

It's been a while. I just opened Blogger again and saw a draft post of my May tbr which clearly won't be going up now. But I did read books from that stack and have a list written down on my journal for tracking. May was about physical books I recently purchased (which stretched to waaaay back in late 2019. lol). 

I'd like to talk about what's up with me and May but I'll have all of that for my weekend reads post and April-May wrap up next week. Let's just say it has been overwhelming.

ANYWAY, as you've read, my June TBR are all random books picked from my TBR Jar! I haven't used my tbr jar in a while since I started the monthly tbr challenge. So here we are! I had fun doing this. I considered taking a video but somehow I still feel weird about it. haha.

[24HR READATHON] April 2021 Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon Day!!

It's that time of the year!

Last year, #readathon was good for me. I participated and live-tweeted last year's October readathon and personally, I think it was a success for me. I juggled among 4 books and finished 2 of them. I got pulled out early because of work but I got back for the missed hours and read. That may be cheating but I don't care. I counted them and I had fun.

I'm participating again this April and I'm hoping for great things. I'm somewhat running out of short books but I do have a couple of 100+ pages on my Kindle so we'll see about that. I'll just throw everything out here THEN let's see right after which of those I end up reading. I'm also picking up one of the books on last year's TBR which is L Change the World which I think is 100+ pages (or maybe 200? idk. but it's short).

10 Books from the Backlog Picks I Need to Get to

Last month's I barely read. I struggled with reading for most of the month because of work. I probably had one and a half good reading week and that was it for me. lol.

I'm still keeping up with this monthly tbr though and I'm excited to get through another set of books. I picked my recent Books from the Backlog picks just so I can finally push myself to get to them. I just started with The Little Bookshop on the Seine and I'm liking it. I relate to the bookish aspects of he main character. Other than that, The Unhoneymooners, and Shadow Sands, I'm not really much into picking these books up soon but we'll see I guess.

Wow. February was quick. I barely read from my tbr. lmao.

Last month I only read two of the ten books I listed in my tbr. One of them I finished early this month. But I did finish five books in February which I posted on my wrap up. I somehow still look at it as how slow I'm reading in Kindle recently. I'm still pushing through with my goal to finish twenty ebooks this year though. I still have the remaining ebooks from that tbr downloaded on my Kindle just so I'm still reminded to read them this month.

This month, I'm circling back to my first prompt for this monthly tbr challenge. Yes, the prompt that started this challenge idea: reading the books I borrowed (so I can return them and borrow new ones. hahaha).

10 Recent Ebook Hauls I Need to Read

February is #ebookathon month for me!

I decided to do a month dedicated to reading ebooks because I've been neglecting them. I barely read them last year. SO this month I plan to go through them. I just miss those days when I read ebooks way faster than physical books. but ohwell. Here's my attempt to go back there (but really, who am I kidding? of course I'll still lowkey read physical books. lmao).

I decided to pick 10 books from my Netgalley shelf and my regular Kindle shelf (just to get a bit of balance although we both know that I'm just reading two or three of these. lmao). The first five books are my recent Netgalley hauls and the last five are my recent Kindle hauls (well I got a new one yesterday but since I've already scheduled this, there's no way I'm changing this tbr).

10 Books I Got for Free (when I worked in my local bookstore)

I'm doing my monthly tbr/themed reading challenges!! For this month, I decided to pick up books I got in January of 2018!! which are generally books I got from my local bookstore for free when I was still working there. I miss those days, to be honest, but it is what it is.

I have more free books but I just picked these particular books up just because these were the books I got in January of 2018 (just because January and it's the year I left the bookseller life).

Most of these, if not all, I'm not exactly familiar with. I actually checked this book haul and wow, I barely read these books but I'm not surprised with that. lmao.

10 Books I Must Read Before the Year Ends

It's the FINAL TBR! and it's late but we're still going to roll with this. I've already read one of these so that's productivity I'm telling you. lmao.

This month, I decided to pick out 2 books for each of my TBRs until October. Since I started this monthly TBR in June, I picked out books from then until my October TBR. Doing this has been fun and I'm doing it again next year. I've already written down some monthly prompts I'll follow. So I'm excited for that.

Not doing descriptions for this one just because I already talked about them before. lmao. Tell me which of these I should get into before the year ends! Also just for updates, I'm done with Dr. Jekyll and Hyde and I'm currently reading The Bookish Life of Nina Hill (and I'm LOVING IT!).

9 Unread Readathon Books

I've been bad at following my TBR recently. Not surprising but I'm still reading a good amount, at least after my reading slump a month back. From last month's TBR though, I probably only got through one of them. I tried reading a couple more from that list, The Mapmaker's Daughter and The Madwoman Upstairs but I wasn't in the mood for them. I got through probably 5 pages or so and I wasn't feeling it so I dropped them for now.

This time around, I looked through some of the earliest reading challenges I joined and picked out the books on those TBR list that I never got around to reading. Time to clean old TBR lists!! All of these came from the following reading challenges: Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge 2017, #breakyourTBRapart Round 2 2018, and 2019 Catastrophe Read-A-Thon TBR.

10 Books I Got From Secondhand Bookshops

I know I've been gone for quite a while with work adjustment and such but I'd like to believe I'm back 👀 I mean look at me posting 3 posts this week. lmao.

But for real, I took this photo before September ended generally because I set up my monthly TBR a day or two before the next month and I have personal monthly prompts since June (borrowed books, books on my TBR the longest, books I'm scared to read, and my MIBF hauls for the last 2 years). This month, I want to give some love to the books I got my secondhand bookshops / thrift stores or books I received from people that, from the looks of it, they got from thrift stores. So basically, it's the thift store books tbr!

9 Unread Books from my 2018 & 2019 MIBF Book Haul

This is my September TBR!! This month's TBR theme, in honor of the postponed MIBF, is reading my MIBF hauls in the last two years!! 

MIBF is that time of the year where I buy a good amount of books because everything is at 20% off and I LOVE SALES!!! lol. Each year, I buy like 10 to 15 books during this 5-day long event. This year though because of the pandemic, they're moving it to November and making it an online sale which feels entirely different so I'm not getting anything.

Speaking of not getting anything, because of this pandemic I haven't actually bought any book since the end of March. I've been eading books from my TBR shelf and w h o a it feels endless but also I'm happy to finally be getting through these books.

My last 2 TBRs worked out so well for me that I decided to continue this thing. Heck, I have scheduled my themed TBRs until December and I'm just so excited to see those books when the month comes.

My last TBR which was about books I had on my TBR shelf the longest went well. Obviously I can't read everything but I LOVE having choices. I was able to get through 3 of these and reread 2 books in preparation for one of the books in this list. W I L D. lol.

This month, I decided to let this be my mood read month and pick anything I want. But would I really pass up on picking books? I decided to twist it to books I've been too scared to read.

10 Books I kept on my TBR shelf the longest

Last month I set my TBR to books I borrowed. I focused on those books and I successfully got through 4 of them! It was really satisfying to look back to. From 9 borrowed books, I'm down to 5. Although the books that were left were books that I borrowed way back in 2018-ish. Kind of wild. lol. But all is good. I'll get back to them at some point. 

What I got from this though is the success of the TBR I set which felt kind of unusual to me since I usually don't follow my TBR list. What I like in here though is that I set a specific theme for it which I think somehow helped me with getting through it. 

SO this month, I decided to go with books I've had the longest. I went to my previous blog and checked my oldest book haul post (which was consisted of books I've read) and checked every books from there. Took me a significant amount of time but now I have a good list of books I got way back from 2014 to the last physical book haul I had which was March 2020.

9 Books I Borrowed and NEED to Finish

We may not have a local library here where I can borrow all the books I want. But I have here my book best friend who have too many books I want to read.

So I just looked up all of his books that I currently have with me and I am surprised to see a lot of them I still haven't read. No panic in here to be honest. But I kind of just had the urge to go through hopefully most of them sooooon. 

Also, this list is wild. I don't now much about these books.

Fall 2019 TBR

 I am still trying my best to get back to all things reading and blogging amidst these busy times at work, the new baseball fandom, and this new found Netflix watching hobby. But then again, I realized that I don't really want to leave this blog because it has my reading thoughts which I like looking back to.

I have here my choices for the Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-thon as well as, of course, some of the books I hope to get into before the year ends (OMG! IT'S -BER MONTHS WHICH MEANS THE YEAR IS ABOUT TO EEEEEND!!!). I have here thrillers as well because why not? October & November are like thriller months. So why not join the fun, yeah? Also, I'm looking at my shelf right now while I'm doing this. Gives me a better feel of what I may want to read in the next few months.

As always, not all books will be read but I'll use this as a guide when I have NO IDEA what to pick up next (except for the #readathon books). Tell me on the comments below what I should prioritize and maybe what you like or not like about them real quick :)

Spring 2019 TBR

Hi,

This year, I started making seasonal TBRs instead of a monthly one. And somehow I think it went okay?

I chose books based on the challenges I have for the next three months. I set 15 books for January - March and I got through 4 of them 😅 Not a very good count at this point but in my defense, I dropped out of the Winter Bookish Bingo because I wasn't feeling it and I picked up different books for the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge.

I'm still a mood reader so when I don't really feel like reading a particular book. I don't. I learned that it only pushes me away from reading books I really like to read. As always, read what you want to read. Don't let some reading challenge or other's preferences push you away from reading those books 😊

As my goal this year is to get through books I purchased years and years ago, I'm adding books I hauled and set as monthly to-be-read in the past years in the same months. Kind of like a look back and at the same time cleaning up. Here's my TBR for the next three months: April, May, and June.

2019 Catastrophe Read-A-Thon TBR

I was going to do #contemporaryathon but then this challenge feels better because it's open to a larger genre of books. AND it's a two-week read-a-thon which gives me more time to read. There are 7 books in this TBR and I'm sure I won't be able to get through all of these. I'm hoping to get around 3 to 4 books though. Crossing my fingers that'll actually happen.
