[WEEKEND READS] where I try to stop an on coming slump

Hi,

I'm sorry that I've still been away. There's work and there's my mood and there's a ugly weather that worries me all the time.

I decided not to get 1984 get into me so much so I picked up Ramona Blue. I don't need another slump at this time of the year especially since the last one got my head start on my goal all wiped out. lmao. I'm trying to make up for readings lost by reading YAs and short books that I have quite high hopes aka Severance.

On other things, I've been watching The I.T. Crowd on Netflix. I know it's trash but I just want something quick and something I don't need to care about. My head is not ready for heavy shows right now I guess. I've also been spending so much time (probably in the last month or so already) watching Sims Let's Play videos on Youtube. Just fun chill stuff. Lastly, I'm so glad that the Yankees finally won a game. At this point, I doubt they'll make the playoffs but I'm still hoping, as a fan.

[WEEKEND READS] where I try to get things back on track here

Hi,

I'm still trying to get the hang of things again. Will do my best to blog hop tonight or tomorrow 😅😅😅

Work has been pretty good for me this past week. Guess I'm just enjoying the things I'm doing recently and I'm just glad to be part of the new project the company is trying to do. I'm also trying to get back to blogging again which I think I mentioned on my wrap up post (?).

On other things, I started watching Narcos and I'm liking it (my head is still probably riding the Breaking Bad x Better Call Saul interest). Sometimes I wish I can speed through it but I also can't because half of the show is probably in Spanish and I had to read so much subtitles that I can't even watch it on the sides while I work. lmao.

[WEEKEND READS] where I reorganized my room and got too tired for everything else

Hi,

It was a busy weekend for me. I had a massive list house chores (aka mostly laundry) and doing a general cleaning and rearrangement of my room. I moved my bed, shelf, and table which took a massive work on moving books from and back to the shelf and where ever they came from. I am in desperate need of another shelf but I don't really have space so every other books I have (aka the books I've read) stays stacked on my floor and on the side of my shelf and on parts of my table. So there's that. lol.

I was exhausted so I ended up not opening my laptop for the weekend. Aside from chores, I did read Mosquitoland finally finishing it!! Love the wrap up chapters and I'll definitely read David Arnold's other books.

[WEEKEND READS] where I'm getting things back on track here!

Hi,

I am once again saying that I am BACK!!

A backtrack of the month will happen on my wrap-up. For this week, I'm happy to say that my sisters and I finally got our vaccine shot last Tuesday. With the rate my country was going, I thought I'll get mine mid-year so I guess we're doing better than I thought.

Reading-wise, I've been a bit sluggish. I've been like that for most of the month I guess. But at least, I was able to finish a book this week. I got through The Last Anniversary before the week ends. I liked it but not as much as I expected. I didn't care much about the characters aside from the mystery aspect. I didn't care about Sophie and her search for romance which disappointed me. I do like the reveal though so at least that part satisfied me. I like the reveal and the story behind the Munro child. Not like as in I like what happened but more of I like how it was done, the story, the reason for it.

[WEEKEND READS] where I failed yet another Dewey's readathon

no new photo this time. will bloghop tonight!!

Hi,

Welcome to another late weekend post because busy life and I tried to do the #readathon which I somehow failed (?) but I did read more than usual which is also a good plus. Let  me talk about it!

I started the readathon strong. It starts at 8PM in my place and I started reading at around 11PM and kept reading on and off up to 2AM or 3AM-ish. I wasn't doing much update like before but I got through a total of 97 pages that night. Then I got up late the next day, read a few pages during breakfast then read a few more after Church. After lunch, I practically slept throughout the afternoon. Nothing like a good siesta, yeah? lol. I ended up picking up The Ask and The Answer again until the readathon ends. That night, I read 132 pages. So all in all, I only got through 229 pages which sucks but it's fine I guess. I got through a good chunk off The Ask and The Answer and I finished The Yellow Wallpaper.

I'm doing personal 24hr readathons anyway, so we'll see how I'll do next month but the next Dewey's 24hr Readathon is on October.

[WEEKEND READS] where a Bookshop-related book somewhat made me feel frustrated (?)

Hi,

This is such an uneventful week. It's the usual thing. I was busy with work. I finally finished the menu I've been working on for a couple of weeks now. Or at least I hope it's done. lol. There were parts about it that I really like and other parts just felt 'meh' but that's what they asked me to do, so whatever, I guess. I also submitted a few logo proposals but have yet to receive feedback on that but I hope those work out.

On other things, the Yankees have been terrible and they're unbearable to watch. Such a pain. Feels like watching them is such a waste of time. I'm glad the other team I occasionally watch, the Cincinnati Reds, are going so well. I'm still out here watching every Yankees game though hoping they pick it up. I mean it's only almost three weeks into the season so, everything can change.

[WEEKEND READS] where I make a weekly "reading plan" to spice up my reading

Hi,

I'm really happy about how I'm able to manage work quite well these part few days. New work from home routine is probably working. I get to finish everything early and my mood is always topnotch and focused on what I'm doing (unlike before). Unlike a couple of months back, I work overtime late at nights because I spend way too much time procrastinating and such but not this time. I really hope things continue well for me.

Also today, it was finally announced that they're lifting the strict lockdown they did a couple of weeks back due to the spike on COVID positives. The cases have gone down a bit so they're easing up once again. I hope that people learn to not be too at ease despite that. On other updates on that matter, my mom finally had her first dose of the vaccine. My dad's scheduled to have his first dose next weekend.

[WEEKEND READS] where I get back to getting things on track

Hi,

Happy Easter to everyone!

Since celebrating the Holy Week is a thing in my country, I had Thursday and Friday are holidays. Thus, I had a pretty good 4-day long weekend. I didn't read much though because my sister came home we rewatched the entire Saw movie series (kind of odd for the holiday) and I got my sister to finally watch Breaking Bad and we got to almost the end of the 2nd season which I'd say is such a win!

As you all know by now, I'm just here waiting for baseball season to start for the past few months and it's finally here!! Two game in for the Yankees. Lose the first one, won the second one. I'm watching the third game laterrrr even though it starts at 1AM here in my place. lmao.

[WEEKEND READS] where I am finally back (again)

Hi,

Remember when I said a couple of weeks back that was drowned with work stuff? Things finally got overwhelming that I stop to drop doing blog things and reading. I barely read these past two weeks until last Friday which felt really good. I still have a couple of things I need to work on before the long weekend for the Holy Week but I can probably manage it now.

I'm thankful for scheduled post. lmao. In case you missed my reviews, I shared my thoughts on Waking Gods and The Lost Village. Both are good in their own way but Waking Gods is absolutely amazing! I'm gonna try and schedule a couple of things today so that I'll have something up throughout the week :)

On other things, since I'm not reading much and generally doing work, I watched Breaking Bad last week and finished it real fast. IT IS AMAZING! WHY DID IT TAKE ME THIS LONG TO FINALLY WATCH IT!? I immediately watched the follow up movie, El Camino and loved it! THEN I watched the spin-off prequel, Better Call Saul which is also really gooooood! Tell me what should I watch next on Netflix. I feel that I'm finally in the mood to actually watch stuff there other than replaying Big Bang Theory over and over. lmao.

[WEEKEND READS] where I was drowned with work but still read enough

rare evening photo because I'm that preoccupied recently. haha. will bloghop soon!

Hi,

It has been a crazy work week for me. I'm trying to go through with one layout at a time and it feels endless at this point. I sent several layouts last Friday and I still have a lot more to do come Monday. It's been exhausting these last few days that I didn't even have the energy to open my laptop yesterday. I just read and took a bit of rest yesterday.

This week, after watching Hailey from Hailey in Bookland's video, I decided to actually log my daily pages read. I've been trying to read at least 50 pages a day although I never really seriously check it and decided for myself if I've actually read enough for the day (where is the system? HAHAHA). So when I started actually logging my pages, I find myself really reading more (or maybe it's just how easy and quick to read the book I was reading then? who knows?). But I really like to keep this up and maybe from 50 pages, I can push it to 100 pages a day next time. I mean I've had days where I read more than 100 pages so we're getting there, I guess.

This past week, I read 466 pages (since I started my log in Tuesday). I finished The Knife of Never Letting Go and The Switch and started The Lonely Hearts Hotel. This coming week, I plan to get through The Lonely Hearts Hotel, Mother May I, and start (and hopefully finish The Ask and The Answer).

[WEEKEND READS] where I tried doing my monthly readathon and failing

Hi,

Throughout the week, I've been majorly unmotivated with work and have been very slugging with doing generally anything (but of course I still do the things I need to do because I don't really have much of a choice). I had an ugly sleep schedule that up to now I'm still trying to let my body take a pretty decent sleeping time (aka sleeping on or before 12mn and waking up on or before 8am). I've been sleeping at 3AM and waking up at 7AM only to fully get up at 10AM. what is wrong with me? 😩😩😩

Yesterday, I tried doing an impromptu 24hr readathon because I realized that I don't really have much chores for the day. At 12mn, I continuously read Waking Gods, took a rest after a few hours (4AM-ish) then continued reading and ultimately finishing the book in the afternoon (with a lot of naps in between probably because of my lack for the last few days). I started The Knife of Never Letting Go and I've only gotten like three chapters because my sister and I watched a movie in the evening.

I kind of see it as an okay readathon but not what I was expecting. haha. Because I wanted an actual whole day reading for myself but I guess since I did finish a book, it's all pretty good.

SO this past week, I finished both books I was reading last weekend, Waking Gods and The Lost Village. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED WAKING GODS!! NOT A DULL MOMENT!! I REALLY NEED BOOK 3 NOW!!! As for The Lost Village, it was okay. I have my review schedule a day before the released date. So expect it March 22nd 😀

[WEEKEND READS] where February ends strong for me, reading-wise

Hi,

I finished both Map of Fates and Tender is the Flesh early this past week. So that's really good for me, reading-wise. That makes it five books so far and I'm looking to finish one more tonight.

I'm trying to remember what's up with my week and I can't seem to remember anything significant other than waking up on Monday to an impromptu meeting with my boss and the rest of the marketing team only for it to be cancelled (which kind of feels like a relief for me). The awkward introvert in me still gets scared of meetings/online meetings even though we've done in several times. And it's not like I'm slacking on work to be scared of it as well.

It's finally March and I'm excited for the days to be moving and somehow I'm hyped for baseball season. The fangirl in me gets too excited with all the little moves, workouts, and the prospect of Spring Training kicking off. Hockey is good but it's really nothing like baseball for me.

[WEEKEND READS] where I finally put Dune aside and pick up a different physical book

i haven't updated myshelf. haha. i should probably clean and rearrange next month!!

Hi,

Still busy days but we're getting by. I still have a few more things I need to do for work but thank the stars for breather weekends.

I haven't been reading much this week which kind of disappoints me since I didn't finish a single book throughout the week. I finally put Dune down but maybe read a chapter every now and then. It just isn't working out but somehow I still really want to finish it but I won't push myself to it for now. I just don't need things to put me in a pretty bored mood right now. haha. I did pick up Map of Fates 👇👇👇 and still trying to get through Tender is the Flesh but I'll probably be done with it tonight.

[WEEKEND READS] where I'm reading 3 books in 3 different formats!!

Hi,

I can't believe I still haven't recovered from being busy. lmao.

This long weekend came and went. I pretty much relaxed last Friday and stayed away from my laptop because I was sick of work. Then we visited my sister yesterday. We worked on our starting small business then ate some good food and watched a little Big Bang Theory while working (because why not). Then today (Sunday), we had a mini Valentine's eat-together with relatives just us here who live close by. I hang out with my cousins then I had the motivation to draw. I started my sketch last night and finally finished it today. I will gradually post it over on my art accounts (as well as my twitter): facebook / instagram (hecc my instagram is so out of it. i need to update it!!).

[WEEKEND READS] where I get a bit busy with work but still get to read

Hi,

I was a bit preoccupied this week with work with Valentine's coming up.

As a graphic artist for a hotel and restaurant group of companies, I made way too much layouts for Valentine's, I don't even want to see anything with hearts or reds or whatnot. hahaha. It seems like my best friend is planning something for Valentine's though or maybe not. But I don't want to get my hopes up for anything. lmao. But we went out for Valentine's (more like pre-Valentine's last year because we both hated the Valentine's crowd) for the past 2 years so we'll see.

I'm happy I finished Wink Poppy Midnight a couple of days ago and I just sat there 12MN-ish and thought about this book. I wouldn't say I love it but I also can't say I didn't like it because while I did not like the characters, I've been very intrigued with them and I just idk. I wanna write a review but I need to gather my thoughts. So I don't know if I can do that. lmao.

This weekend, after finishing Wink Poppy Midnight, I finally really focused on my February TBR which is all about my ebooks!! So right now I'm probably simultaneously reading three books? But really now, am I supposed to be counting Strange Planet #2? I won't. lmao.

[WEEKEND READS] where I had a productive art week

Hi,

I've been quite off in the past couple of weeks. Just work, mood, drama over my art... stuff 😩

I wanted to make a habit of a lot of things I've been neglecting so I plan to start a bullet journal / habit tracker thing. idk. I just checked stuff on instagram and I got a bit of an idea of what I wanted to do. But generally just something that will push me and remind me to do things as well as a way to mark them for the sense of accomplishment and productivity. Hopefully that helps.

This past week,  (1) I finished The Weight of Zero and started Wink Poppy Midnight. LOVED The Weight on Zero and I'm so glad to have finally read it! and (2) I made art again. I did a lettering of  a quote from Crazy Stupid Bromance because that hit me well. lmao. I also made a drawing for my younger cousin because it's her birthday today. AND I finally finished one more fanart. I'm happy about how my art productivity is going (despite the lowkey drama I mentioned).

[WEEKEND READS] where I'm getting out of my holiday mood

I know my copy of Red Rising is so ruined now but I love it.

Hi,

Everyone's talking about how the first work week is such a struggle. and well, it is. I barely got things done generally because my head is still in holiday mood. lol. BUT I am setting myself up for the coming week. And mentally prepared myself for things I need to accomplish for work.

This weekend, I went out for my monthly visit to the grocery and paying my bills. Brought my sister with me and we bought a bunch of snacks! It's gonna be a fun couple of weeks ahead, I guess.

Reading-wise, I finally finished rereading Red Rising and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! STILL LOVE IT! LOVED IT EVEN MORE!! I'll probably reread Gold Son next month because I have a tbr list to get through. But this year, I'm generally planning to reread several series this year (to continue and finish some). I'm thinking of going through the entire Red Rising series (hopefully the 6th/final book comes out and I get to read it as well), reread Unwind Dystology, reread the first two of Throne of Glass then ultimately finish the series. I don't know what else but for now, that's what I'm thinking.

[WEEKEND READS] where I FINALLY got a drawing tablet and more physical books!!

Hi,

It's been a while.

Few life updates...
(1) I went out last weekend to see my book best friend, I got a drawing tablet (he sold it to me for almost half the price. prob 40% off the actual price)!! I've tried it and it's so comfy to draw with it!!!
(2) Aside from the drawing tablet, I also got a good amount of books from him. I returned 15 books to him and got 6 new books to read. Including the Chaos Walking trilogy!! Excited for that!!!
(3) I also dropped by the bookstore and had to get at least a book. SO I bought Crazy Stupid Bromance, the third book in the Bromance Bookclub series. They don't have the 2nd book in stock so I ended up grabbing this one. lmao. Please do let me know if it's okay to read this without reading the 2nd book.
(4) Christmas this Friday? I'm so excited for that! I've wrapped gifts. I'll spend the holiday with my family and my aunts, uncles, and cousins on my mother's side of the family which is what we usually do (and generally because we live so close by).

[WEEKEND READS] where I participated in Dewey's #readathon and did a bit of Kindle cleaning

Hi,

So Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon happened and while work kind of interrupted the end of my readathon, I still think it was a success. I read almost the entire half of the readathon duration. And I finished 1 book then I cheated and did an extended readathon because, as I said, work interrupted me. I finished 1 more book then caught up with my buddy read book.

So all in all, I got through a total of 421 pages. I juggled among 4 books and ultimately finishing 2 of them. 1 of those I didn't finish is an ebook and I'm still far from finishing that one and the other 1 is my buddy read book which I had to stop because we still need to discuss that. BUT as I said last week, I did take videos of me reading so I'll have my actual wrapup for that probably next weekend of something. idk since I'm actually not a fan of video editing. lmao.

[WEEKEND READS] where I am enjoying my buddy reading!

Hi,

This week has been pretty okay. Nothing special about it. I was working throughout the week and I'm glad how things are progressing for me. I kind of need to adjust my body clock. I still have a bad habit of sleeping extra late (which is 2AM) then halfass-ly waking up at 7AM through my alarm then ultimately getting up at 9AM or 10AM sometimes.

Late Friday, I am so glad that my best friend and I finally got through with our 2nd buddy reads discussion. It was fun a lowkey chaotic because it's just full of fact checking and wild speculations. I've got a bit of my theory but nothing really set in stone since it's just 40-ish percent of the book. We're going through 15 more chapter before the next discussion then one final go to the end of the book. I'm so excited! The next 15 pages are over 100 pages so it will be a while.

Also just something I've been considering a long time, I think I mentioned this before and someone said I should do it. But I want to do some sort of reading vlog. I'm thinking of trying it out for the next weekend which is the Dewey's 24hour read-a-thon. Lowkey hyped for that. So I'll probably try that and if I like how it turns out, I'll probably post it and I'll probably see how I feel about doing more of it 😅 Would love to know what you guys think of it by then 😅😅
